No one can deny that the last couple of years have been difficult ones for tourism on the Kenya coast. Hemingways Watamu has remained open thanks to our wonderful repeat clients and of course the continued support of the travel trade. But times are changing and we must move with them. As a result, we are delighted to announce some positive changes being made at Hemingways Watamu during 2015. The South Wing is to be re modeled into 18 luxury apartments which will be for sale and then subsequently rented out. The recently refurbished North Wing will form a small 26 bedroom luxury boutique hotel and I will be letting you know further details about this moving forward.
In order at achieve our projected opening date of Christmas, the hotel will need to be closed from 15th April, re opening for business on 1st December 2015. The existing North Wing rooms will be available from this date, and we are offering them first to our loyal repeat guests who make the festive season so special at Hemingways Watamu. The apartments are expected to be finished in early 2015 and we will of course keep you informed of our progress.
Both the apartments and hotel will come under the banner of The Hemingways Collection and guests can be assured that we will be offering the exceptional level of service that we have become renowned for.

The Tides Lodge is delighted to announce that the refurbishment program is complete and the lodge is looking stunning as they open for the new season. The beach cottages are looking so smart with newly thatched roofs, bathrooms and a fresh coat of paint!
The bar area is looking fantastic and ready for guests who wish to watch the waves roll in over a morning cup of coffee or something stronger as the sun sets over the turquoise Indian Ocean.

As a reward to both our loyal guests and Agents, we are delighted to announce that both lodges now offer a repeat guest special (booking through their Tour Operator) – a 15% discount off their accommodation costs. There is a minimum stay of 2 nights for 2015 and a minimum stay of 3 nights for 2016 and we need the last dates of their stay at the lodge to confirm the discount.
